Windows Paint has been with us for a long while now, and although in the most recent version of Windows 7 it looks a bit different, in essence is still the same piece of outdated software. Granted, under the command of a skilled user, Paint can produce pixel masterpieces.. but for the regular user, the program has too many limitations (no layers, no history, limited set of tools, etc).
That’s the reason why today I want to introduce a very mature program that was created with the intention to provide a free alternative to Paint for windows, however the program grew and became something in between Paint and Gimp. If you don’t know it by now, allow me to introduce you to Paint .NET Continue reading »

I’ve known about this excellent piece of software for a while now, but I never took the chance to write a few lines about it, but today I am feeling generous
so I decided to take some time and tell you about the wonders of this well written program that is a must for anyone working with video files.
This is the program to use when you need to convert problematic video files from one format to another. I have had really good results with it when other programs failed me, and the best thing is.. I know you get that itch. Quickly you survey the surroundings looking for a pen, a pencil, a marker.. anything! Then you proceed to grab a napkin or one of those unsolicited fliers you receive on the mail every few days, and then you start. “Doodle doodle doodle” while at the same time thinking of your finances, your plans for the weekend, what to make for dinner.. “doodle doodle doodle” and then you have it, a masterpiece on a scrap of paper.
Sadly it is not long before that unique piece of art is lost forever in the garbage. But hold on one second, YOU are not the only one who gets these urges to doodle. Children also need to doodle very often, and away they go using new and clean pieces of paper every time they feel like doing art. But not anymore! In a few moments you will learn to let them use as much electronic paper as they need. Heck, let them use one sheet of e-paper for every line they want to draw if you wish.. nothing is going to waste. Continue reading »

Those were the days.. and every now and then I feel the need to install an emulator just so I can play this game. But not anymore!
Online gaming has become quite a success, and although there are plenty of original and creative games out there, classics like this one deserve to be played over and over.. and over. Continue reading »

As I sit here trying to write about the most awesome free screen capture software ever created.. a bird across from where I am sitting keeps on distracting me with its wing flapping.. no seriously, this bird is on a mission to distract me from the task at hand!
That aside, I must inform you of several free tools to replace that “Print Screen” key and the limited functionality it has. It is today that you will learn about several programs that will allow you to capture, customize, crop, title, and save screen images to many different formats. In fact, the author of this website uses a couple of them to produce all the images found in this place. Continue reading »

Will the person that does not have MP3 files raise their hand? anyone?.. I thought so. Given that everyone in this room had at one point or another close contact with these dangerous type of files, I am confident more than one of you distinguished personalities had a burning question in your minds: how can I edit MP3 files? In fact, maybe some of you quality citizens even wondered: how can I cut, slice, copy, paste, trim my mp3 files without losing any quality at all!
The good news is, there is a free program to do this. And I know that as soon as I said “good news” many of you pulled some cash from your purse or got your credit card ready to purchase such wonderful tool. Never fear! because there is no need for a monetary transaction in order for you to start enjoying the great miracle of lossless mp3 editing. Continue reading »
