You know what I like the most? well, free programs with long names. Because the longer the name, the more important the program sounds. No, really! And today’s program takes the crown (for now). Because you see, Platinum Arts Sandbox 3D Game Maker will allow you to fullfill your dreams: to finally create a 3D game that works.
So here we have a group of (young) adults who decided to join forces and create a program that allows you to create exciting 3D games… just like those you remember from 1999! But seriously, Platinum Arts Sandbox 3D Game Maker is remarkable in the sense that the user (you my friend), don’t really need to be a seasoned programmer in order to get things done. In fact, as long as you understand certain concepts on logic, a bit of scripting and you will be on your way to create almost any kind of 3D game with Platinum arts sandbox 3d game maker.
The Sandbox (as the developers call this program), is based on Open Source software, so is constantly updated. It is based on the CUBE2 3D engine, so a wide variety of games (and not only shooters) can be created with this software.
Some of the features that call my attention about this program are
- Editing is done in game, including cooperatively over the Internet or LAN
- Easy enough for kids to use but powerful enough for full game projects
- Several custom maps that feature saving a princess, mazes, houses, quests, etc
- Lots of content already available such as animals, trees, characters, and objects that can easily placed.
- Everything is done in game, no compiling required.
