Lossless MP3 editing
Will the person that does not have MP3 files raise their hand? anyone?.. I thought so. Given that everyone in this room had at one point or another close contact with these dangerous type of files, I am confident more than one of you distinguished personalities had a burning question in your minds: how can I edit MP3 files? In fact, maybe some of you quality citizens even wondered: how can I cut, slice, copy, paste, trim my mp3 files without losing any quality at all!
The good news is, there is a free program to do this. And I know that as soon as I said “good news” many of you pulled some cash from your purse or got your credit card ready to purchase such wonderful tool. Never fear! because there is no need for a monetary transaction in order for you to start enjoying the great miracle of lossless mp3 editing.
I can hear you saying: “But Mr Freewareguy, all I need to edit my MP3 files is the greatest freeware program to ever exist amongst mankind: Audacity! ” And yes, you may be right. However, and as you are probably aware by now, MP3 files by their very own nature are extremely compressed audio files, and loading them into an audio editor means that the file will be decompressed (usually to a PCM uncompressed stream) for editing, and once all cuts, trims and edits are done.. it will be recompressed to another MP3 or a different file format. This means there will be a loss of quality from the original (already compressed) audio file.
